IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!

Hi efurydoggy, it's me Suki!

Today is MY special day ~ I am now 10 years old, can woo believe it? My Mom says she can't, that I still act like a one or two year old. She says I just haven't grown up and probably nefur will!

I had birthday walkies this morning (see photo of us pups after our walk above) and then BJ dug in the sand and got me all dirty.....anyone that knows me will know how much of a grubby puppy I am ~ my old family used to call me the 'mud puppy'. I work real hard to try and get my white furs all dirty! The photo above is just after Mom gave me a bath last month, can you believe it? I work so hard to get my white not-so-white and then she goes and cleans off all my hard work.....sheesh!

I'm home chilling out now, can't wait to see if I get something delicious for my dindins!

Happy Birthday to my sister Sillik and my brothers Anui and Mauya ~ I hope woo are all having a good day like me!

Well I better go now, time to buzz buzz buzz around again......there's no keeping me still for more than a few minutes!

I'm hewe to wish woo all a fuwy Mewwy Chwistmas and a Sibewwific New Yeaw on behalf of all of us from Team Husky!

This mowning we went out to ouw favouwite walkies place and had lots of fun! Me and Suki got to go fuw walkies fiwst and then Mom took Summew and Kodiak. While Mom was out on hew second walk, I did a bit of landscaping - do woo think I look pwoud?

Hewe's some photos of some of ouw Chwistmas decowations, some with lights on, some with lights off. We also have lights on ouw camelia twee outside but Mom couldn't get a good photo that showed them.

Well not long now till Santa comes, I can't see any pwesents undew the twee fuw us pups, Mom said something about having them away safe whewe we can't get them. I suwe hope she doesn't make us wait much longew! We have all been weal good pups Santa, see - I am waiting patiently by the twee fuw woo to awwive!!!

We have wondewful snow in ouw backyawd!!!! Mom had told us that if we woke up this mowning and thewe was lots of snow she would take today off wowk so we could go sledding. Thewe is not enough neaw whewe we live so we haven't been able to go out sledding, we wewe all vewy disappointed:(

Most of ouw fuwiends in the USA awe fuwy jealous of us because they awe having a heatwave that sounds just plain nasty to us Sibewians!!! We are twying to send some of ouw cool weathew theiw way!!!

We have had some fun in the snow, hope woo like the pictuwes I choose to shawe with woo!!!

SLED DOG RACING WEEKEND!!!

Hi efurydoggy, it's me Sesuk!!!

I have sum fury exciting news!!! We had our local Sled Dog Race of the year last weekend and it was so much fun!!!

On Saturday afternoon my nephew BJ ran in the Canicross with our furiend Devon and they got 1st in the Womens class!!! Saturday evening me and my favourite puppy Kodiak were part of a 5 dog team in the 6 Dog Sprint class and we got 1st!!! Maw says I have enough doggy points to be a real Sled Dog now - I've earnt my official Sled Dog title, woo hoo!!!

On Sunday morning Kodiak and his brother Qannik ran together in the 2 Dog Scooter class with our furiend Haakon, there were 12 teams and Kodiak and Qannik got 1st!!! BeeJ ran with our buddy Koda and his Mom/our Nanny Kate in the same class and they got 4th ~ I was so proud of my boys!!! That afternoon me and Fen ran with Mom in the 2 Dog Veteran class (doggies have to be 8 years and over) and we got 2nd!!!

We didn't get any photos of me and Kodiak in the 6 Dog Sprint class as it was held at night time in the dark! Mom didn't manage to get any photos of us in the Veterans class either because she was running us! Doesn't seem fair that I ran in two races and there are no photos of me:( Here are some photos of BJ and Devon, Kodiak, Qannik and Haakon and BJ, Koda and Nanny Kate.....

TEAM HUSKY REPORTING IN!!!

Hi efurypuppy, it's me Summer!

I just wanted to let woo know that we are all still here! I got to do this post cause I am the longest standing member of Team Husky (I'm not the oldest though)! We have been busy training for racing season which is now upon us.....well some of us have been training - me, I've just being going fur walks and jogs and runs off leash. Suki, Kodiak and BJ have all been going fur runs on the scooter and rig though and they are loving it!!!

We have our big local race of the year coming up next weekend (4-5 June). As per usual I have the responsibility of being Team Husky's mascot and head cheerleader! The weather was a bit wet for a while there but it has pretty much come right, the problem now is the temperature! It's been too warm fur the pups to run any decent distances - if anyone out there can send some frosts and cold temperatures our way please do!!! Us Suberians run sooooo much better when it's cold! Here are a couple of photos Mom took last Sunday:

This is our furiend Link, he is a labrador retriever and he is 11.5 years old! He still loves going fur runs and keeps up a good pace too! Mom was trying to capture him running past but he decided he'd come over and say hello instead.....

I don't think I need to tell woo who these two young puppies are! Fur those of woo that don't know us fury well, it's my puppies (well they are not mine really but I do love them lots) - Kodiak and Qannik.....

That's our furiend Haakon running them, they were getting purtty tired as it was right at the end of their run! The boys are going to be running together in one of the races - it was their first official race last year and they got second! Two days later Kodiak broke his toe:( I know they will try hard this year and hopefully there won't be any injuries so they can keep running right through the season! In case you wanted to see how much they love running, here's a close up.....

It's time for me to go, Mom just called me over fur a belly rub so I better go before she changes her mind! Yes she has been neglecting her blogging assistant duties but I can assure woo we have not been missing out on any of our usual home comforts!!!

We decided to take part in this really cool event hosted by Ann from Zoolatry and Judi from Sam & Andy's Place - yes they are kitty kats but they are pretty cool ones and we do like them a lot! Ann is the wonderful lady that created our beautiful banner!

ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE IN CHRISTCHURCH.....

.....please send prayers for everyone in and around Christchurch - they have had another earthquake, much worse than the one in September last year. So far there are 65 confirmed dead and still a lot of people trapped in buildings and in the rubble. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by this tragedy.

For those of our friends that have asked if we are okay, thank you for thinking of us. We are fine. We live around 7 hours drive from Christchurch. The quake was felt down here in some areas but we don't think any local damage was done.

Today is da day I haf been waitin on fur a long time - it's PAWTY time!!! Aneshia, Meisha, me, Qannik and Zeus are two years old today so we are havin a pawty to celebrate dis special occasion.

We managed to get four of us five pups together and we had so much fun playin wif each udder and wif our udder furiends and family too!

Den woo can imagine my surprise when we went in our doggy trailer and got to our destination to find....

Dere were doggies efurywhere, Aunt Summer and Aunt Suki had a fun day and so did brudder BeeJ.....

Guess what today is? Yep - it's my birfday!!! Today I am seven years old.....I know, I know - I don't look a day ofur four do I!!!

We went out fur our usual Sunday morning walkies today and had our usual doggy sausage treat afterwards. Mom also bought some chicken necks so we had one of those too. I've been getting lots of pats and cuddles, I even met some new people today and they gave me pats too! I hope Mom doesn't furget to buy me some salmon fur my dinner tonight!

LITTLE INNOKO NEEDS OUR HELP......

Today a little doggy is battling for his life. He really really needs as much help as he can get, at the moment we need to say prayers for him and send lots of Sibe Vibes his way (and Aussie Shepherd Vibes too)! The vets are doing efurything they can fur him. We sure hope he is strong enough to fight this and get back home to his foster Mom, litter brother Jetson and foster brothers and sisfurs.

Another way we can help is by contributing to his costly medical care. Team Husky have donated as much as they can afford and every dollar helps. Here is a message from his foster Mom Kelly, who is a fury fury close furiend of Team Husky's:

I have some very unfortunate news and I was hoping for your help! Recently I started fostering (2) 11 week old aussie puppies for Blind dog rescue www.blinddogrescue.com. On Friday evening the littlest boy Innoko started violently vomiting, so I had to rush him to the ER vet. Come to find out my precious little boy has Parvo. I was shocked and devastated. For those of you who don't know, Parvo is a virus that attacks the rapidly growing cells in the body (mainly the GI tract and bone marrow). 100% of dogs who contract this disease die (from dehydration or secondary infection) who are not treated.

This morning I received word that Innoko was not at all doing well and he will need to stay a few more days at the ER vet, where he will receive IV fluids and supplements to keep him alive. You can imagine that the cost of this treatment is quite expensive, and it is. The total cost thus far is $3000 and counting - but no matter what the cost we are devoted to our sweet Innoko and we will do whatever it takes to make sure he has the life he so rightfully deserves!

What I am asking is that you help spread the word about Innoko and if you are able to make a donation to help off-set the cost of his vet bills. I do not have much, as I already donate pretty much all of my free money and time for the dogs that need me; however I have donated $1 to his chip-in fund. If everyone donated $1 it would go such a long way to helping us save our beloved boy! His chip-in link is below:

Innoko is blind (maybe can see some shadows) and partially deaf. He already has been through so much heartache in his short little life - being dumped at the shelter at only 8 weeks old. But he has such a bright future ahead of him...

SUKI IS HAVING SURGERY TODAY.....

Please send lots of Sibe Vibes her way. We are all waiting to hear from our vet to see how the surgery went.

I haven't posted about her injury until now - about 6 weeks ago Suki had an accident and severly fractured her skull. She's fine, her normal happy and silly self actually. Above is a photo of her showing her 'lump' and below are photos of the xrays. The piece of bone was actually punched out and it flipped around at a ninty degree angle so is sticking straight up, creating the lump.

We were given three options and decided to go with the third which was to let the fracture continue to heal and then have the piece of bone that is sticking up 'shaved' off. This is what is happening today.

See the piece of skull just above her eye socket?

This one shows the fracture from another angle - if you look on the right side you will see the piece of bone in the dark area, right near the front.....

Suki is in surgery right now, we are hoping it goes well and that she has a speedy recovery:)

Today is a fuwy special day, it's my Aunt Suki's biwthday!!! Aunt Suki taught me it's wude to weveal a ladies age so I can't tell woo how old she is but I can tell woo she was bown in 2002. I'm suwe woo can do the maths!!!

We had nommy tweats this mowning and this aftewnoon we got in our Huskiz twuck and we and visited ouw fuwiends fwom IceSibes ~ it suwe was loads of fun and we gots to do zoomies and roll in the gwass and play in the doggy paddling pools and have some nommy cheese and deli meat tweats.

Hewe she is when she was a little puppy, only six weeks old, with hew bwothers and sister, can woo tell which one she is?

Today is a fury special day in our house ~ it's Aunt Summer's Gotcha Day!

A little over five years ago Maw was lookin on da internet fur a furiend fur my Paw and she saw dis cute photo.....

So after a few weeks of phone conversations and emails wif da lady dat owned dis little girl, five years ago yesterday Maw made a trip to Christchurch to meet a da red headed girl that needed a new home, she was hopin she'd be a good companion for my Paw. She met Summer and loved her! Maw stayed wif Sum's owners dat night and Sum slept on da bed wif Maw. Da next day dey both made da 7-8 hour journey home where Prince and his furiend Tara was anxiously waitin to meet her. Dis was Aunt Summer when Maw first met her, she's wif da doggy Pepper and little boy Thomas she lived wif.....

When dey gots home Summer was an instant hit wif Paw ~ so much so dat no one in da house got any sleep for da first 24 hours.....Paw and Aunt Summer was too busy playin! Here is a few of Maw's fondest memories in da first few weeks dat Sum came to live at our house.....

This time last year Princey posted a happy birthday wish to our dear friend Ara. Ara is 16 years old today and is still a sassy little girl ~ you should see her do her little dance at dinner time! She is a very loving and loyal companion to her owners and is just so sweet. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET ARA.....

This time last year we were also saying goodbye to another dear friend, Kavic. Ara and Kavic were good friends, they lived together all their lives and shared a couch most days. Kavic was a special boy, the clown of the pack. He was happy-go-lucky and always wore his signature smile, he was a true blonde! He loved life and everyone that was a part of it.....

Who would have guessed this time last year that in a years time, our precious Prince would not be here with us. I often wonder why life throws us these curve balls, being here without Prince still hurts so much and feels so raw and unbearable at times. So much has happened in the past year, we have lost loved ones and at the same time made many new friends along the way. I guess life really does go on and we just have to pick ourselves up and carry on for the sake of the loved ones we still have with us.

Last week was a fury sad week fur us, we had to say goodbye to my GranPaw Que. He was almost 15 years old and he hadn't been feelin fury well, it was time fur him to be helped to the Rainbow Bridge.

I loved my GranPaw Que, I got da sillies when I was around him cause I wanted to be his furiend.....he didn't like it much and normally grumbled at me or told me off. I know dat under all dat he really loved me too though!!! Secretly I think I reminded him of himself when he was a youngin! Here's me tellin GranPaw recently dat I really am a good boy.....

Run free GranPaw Que, woo certainly earned yur silver harness! Woo will be up dere runnin around wif Ursa, Tev, Kavic, Blaze and lots of udder furiends and family includin my Paw Prince. We all think Paw would haf been surprised to see woo, he would have gone 'ah crap, what are woo doin here' and woo would have said da same back to him. We think dat woo two will become furiends now and woo might even go fur runs together!

I will miss woo GranPaw, I promise to make woo proud!

Hi efurypuppy, it's me Summer!

Today is my fury best furiend in the worlds birfday ~ HAPPY BIRFDAY ANGEL PRINCEY!!!

Princey and me shared some fun times together, we were always side by side and lookin out fur each other and our Mom. She always said we were like 'two peas in a pod'.

We had such a short time together but have so many memories and adventures to hold onto and treasure. Here are just a few of them:

Today is a fury sad day fur us at Team Husky, it's been six whole months since we had to say goodbye to our Paw, best furiend, and brudder. Things are fury different around here wifout Paw and we are doin da best we can to carry on wifout him ~ we miss him lots and think about him efuryday. Maw says goodnight to us each night after we go to bed and always says night night to Paw too.

Hi efurypuppy, it's me Summer!

Well BJ told woo we had fun in the snow and showed woo some of the photos. I just wanted to let woo know that I really did LOVE running with my two boys ~ I had a BLAST!!! I just hope Princey was proud of me too, I know he was watching us.....he loved the snow and would so have loved to be out there running and playing with us!

It was a bit sad for me and Mom not having Princey with us. Kodiak got to wear Prince's harness for the very first time - he had been wearing Prince's first racing harness before he broke his toe but it was getting a bit small on him. Mom went to put him in Prince's last racing harness but couldn't, she got real upset. She asked our furiend Haakon to put it on for her. I must say Kodiak looked quite handsome in his Dad's harness and it fits him perfectly.....as Haakon said, Yak has pretty big paws to fill!!! Here he is in the harness.....

Yestewday when we woke up thewe was even mowe snow, enough to go sledding!!! Yep, me and Kodiak had ouw fiwst efuw sledding expewience and we LOVED it! We got to go out a second time and this time Summew came with us!!! That's wight ~ Sum actually wan in hawness, Mom says it's the fiwst time in about eight ow nine months that she hasn't pawked hew fluffy butt and wolled ofuw! She stopped wunning when Mw Pwince was sick and then she wouldn't wun without him. Mom was expecting hew to pawk up but we took off and she just loved it!

SPRING IS IN THE AIR!!!

Hi efurydoggy, it's me Suki!

How can I tell spring has arrived? Let's take a tour around our garden.....

That's how! Lots of purtty flowers are blooming or about to bloom and the sun has been out more over the last couple of weeks. Mom has also been getting out her seeds and seedling propogators so she can grow lots of yummy vegetables and things!

Spring is not all good news fur us pups, it means that our racing season is almost over and we will soon no longer be going for scooter and rig runs.....I sure will miss that because walking is definitely NOT my favourite speed!!! Walking makes me zig zag all over the place and scream my little siberian head off ~ especially when I'm not up front of all the other pups!!!

FOUR MONTHS AGO TODAY.....

.....we said goodbye to our beloved Prince. He was such an important part of our lives. Every day we think of him ~ most of the time we think of all the good times we shared, sometimes we feel the emptiness, sadness and huge gaping hole he has left in our hearts and other times we're so damn angry he was taken from us so soon. The last four months have been an emotional roller coaster but one thing has remained constant ~ we love you and miss you so very much Princey!

We wanted to share a few photos with you from the last few weeks of Prince's life.....

SUNDAY FUNDAY.....

Hawoo efurypupper, it's me Lil Yak Yak!!!

Yesterday was Sunday fur us and oh what a funday it was! It started off da usual way, da alarm went off and Maw gots herself and us ready to go outs to our usual Sunday morning walkies spot. Into da HUSKIZ truck we went and da ten minute drive began. When we gots there I saw a lady come up to our truck (we were still in da back) wif a lil girl dat looked a bit like me. After Maw gots us outs of da truck I gots to say hurro to her and she did smell just like me too.....it was Sister Meisha!!! I hadn't seen her since da start of da year! Do woo think we looks alike?

Maw hooked me up to da front of da truck wif Aunt Summer and Aunt Suki ~ she hasn't done that fur a long time.....since before I hurts my foot. Aunt Suki gots to go fur a run wif my real Maw (Laska), Aunt Qui, BJ, GranMaw Kreevanka and Uncle Fen. Meisha gots to go fur her fury first run ever wif our furiend Bella! We didn't get any real good photos of dere runs but we did get dese as dey were coming back in.....

After dey gots back from dere run Maw gots Aunt Summer and my harnesses outs ~ I was confused cause I never gets to go fur walks or runs anymore. Maw put my harness on me and told me I was goin fur a walk and dat Meisha was comin along too! I was so excited.......it's been 10 weeks and 1 day since I last had ANY exercise (not dat I'm counting)! I tried my hardest to pull Maw and make her run but she said I wasn't allowed to run yet. I thought I would never gets to go fur walkies again so I was purtty happy. Here's some photos of my first walk wif my new toe.....

Howldy to all woo puppews out thewe!!! My name is BJ and I'm the latest membew of Team Husky!!!

Woo alweady know my Aunt Sesuk, it suwe is fun being able to spend time wif hew.....makes me not miss my old home as much. I'm a bit shy and not suwe what else to tell woo about me so if woo have any questions please just ask!

Since I've been wif my new family I've gotten to go out fuw lots of walkies in all diffewent places, I weally do like explowing and sniffing and of couwse ~ leaving my mawk evewywhewe.....my new Mom says I'm a 'sewial piddlew', not suwe what that means but if I keep going fuw walks then it's gotta be a good thing!

When I was just a young puppy my old Mom had a bad accident and shattewed hew leg. Aftew then my weal Mom (Shino) and my aunts and uncles couldn't go fuw anymowe wuns cause Mom's leg wasn't stwong enough. My weal Mom had been telling me about what fun I would have going fuw wuns when I was a big boy but that day nevew came.....well until last weekend. I got to go fuw my fuwy fiwst wun and to make things even mowe exciting I had the best wunning pawtnew!!! I'll show woo some photos so woo can see fuw youwself just how happy I was.

OUR VERY SPECIAL FURIEND PHANTOM NEEDS YOUR SIBE VIBES AND PRAYERS!!!

Some of you will know Phantom from The Op Pack and be aware of what he's been going through lately. Those of you that don't know should head over to their blog, he and his family are going through a really rough time at the moment and they could use all the support, prayers and sibe vibes they can get!

Phantom is very special to us, as are his brother Thunder, sisters Angel Princess Dakota and Ciara and Mom Kathie. They were a great comfort to us and gave us so much support right from before we got the horrible news that our Prince had cancer, all throughout our battle with this horrible disease and then through our struggle to come to terms with losing the very heart of our pack. They had been through everything we were going through with their beautiful Dakota and their handsome Phantom ~ Dakota lost her battle but Phantom, to this day, has survived. He has just had yet another surgery to remove a suspicious lump, this time on his face. He came through the operation well and will hopefully get to go home to his family tomorrow. Then they play the waiting game ~ the results from the pathology lab should be back within the next week.

We at Team Husky are praying and hoping this lump is not another tumor.....if it is we are hoping they were able to remove all of it and that Phantom can continue to live a happy, long life with his loving family.

We ask ourselves all the time why these things have to happen to us ~ it's simply not fair!

Please know that we are constantly thinking of you Kathie, Phantom, Thunder and Ciara and that we are here for you even though we live so far apart.

Stay strong Phantom ~ you are a survivor and so many people are praying for you......and of course Angels Dakota and Prince are watching over you constantly and sending all the healing vibes they can!

ANUDDER SURGERY.....

Hawoo efurypupper, it's me Kodiak!

I am still a bit sleepy after a big day. Maw took me on what I thought was goin to be an adventure dis mornin ~ instead I ended up at da out of town VET.....da same place I stayed at when I had da operation to put da screw in my broken toe!!! Guess what I was dere fur dis time???

Yep ~ no screw in my footy foot anymore! Instead I just have a hole where da screw used to be! Dr Hugh told me and Maw I had to be fury careful for da next few weeks, no walkies fur two weeks and den I'm allowed to go fur little walks ~ it's been such a long time I hardly remember what goin fur walks is like!!!

Some of woo may know dat I haf problems wif one of my ears. Dr Hugh did take some samples and send dem to da LAB (have woo got dem yet Mr Koda MD.....I think he must have meant woo when he said LAB?) so we can try and figure out what da marks on da inside of my ear are and why it's dry and flaky sometimes on da outside of my ear. He also checked my lump and comfirmed it is just a cyst ~ Maw was fury happy bout dat fur some reason!!! He did stick a needle in and got dis thick gooey clear stuff out, so no more lumpy lump fur me!!!

MULTIPLE BOO BOO'S

Hawoo efurypup, it's me Kodiak!

I would like to give woo an update on my boo boo ~ I had some xrays last week and da VET said it's all healed now! I don't haf to wear da splint anymore, Maw just bandages my foot up to protect my toe. She has to bandage it efuryday cause it slips off without da splint. When she changes da bandage I get to have a nude foot fur an hour or two.....it really does feel loverly but weird at da same time. It's fury sensative and I'm pretty careful when I walk around on it, sometimes I even hop on three legs. My pads are all small and funny and soft and furry. Here's some photos of me enjoyin nude foot time fur da fury first time last week:

I haf anudder boo boo ~ Maw had to take me to da VET yesterday. We saw Dr Ruth and she said I haf a bad hot spot.....it's just below my right ear, in da same place I had to haf surgery to get a hematoma lanced when I was younger. It's all gunky and weepy so I haf to take antibiotics and anti inflammatories. I didn't let Dr Ruth touch it, Maw says I am fury stubborn like my Paw! Maw also found a lump in my cheek on da same side as my hot spot but right down by my bottom jaw. We haf to keep an eye on it and if it doesn't go away in da next few days I haf to haf somethin called a biopsy. Maw is fury worried ~ she said she doesn't do lumps anymore, not after efurythin we went thru wif my Paw.

Dere's anudder boo boo in Team Husky and it's not me dis time! Take a look at dis:

Dat's my Aunt Suki's belly, Maw took her to da vet last week and she got spayed (whateva dat means). Maw told me it's when da VET removes all her girl bits, I still don't understand what she means. She went fur a check-up to da VET yesterday wif me and got an 'all good' report, it's healing real well! Aunt Suki told me she can't wait fur her stitches to be taken out so she can go fur runs again. I remember goin fur runs, it was so long ago! I haven't even been fur a walk or anythin fur ofur 7 1/2 weeks now ~ dats a real long time when yur an energetic young pup like me!!! I'm so glad I haf Aunt Summer to chew on, I just loves her and she's great fun to play wif.

I hope all of woo don't haf boo boo's ~ dey really interfere wif our training programs and interrupt our social lives!!!

It came from a land called 'Zoolatry'!!!

There's a wonderful lady named Ann that is very talented and makes banners and things for doggies and kitties and all sorts of other creatures that have Mom's that are a bit 'challenged' when it comes to creating purtty things (yep, our Mom is one of the challenged ones!). Ann created this beewootiful banner fur us and we just LOVE it!!! We think it represents us just purrfectly (that's fur Maggy and Zoey!), it's such a great Winter theme!

Hi efurydoggy, it's me Suki!

Did woo notice our new banner? Can you guess what my Gotcha Day surprise was now?

I had such a fun weekend away ~ I got to see the family I used to live with and I got to say hello to my brothers, sisters, niece and nephew, I hadn't said hello to them fur such a long time ~ just over two years!!! I also got to run in two races with my furiend Qannik, Mom said we ran fury well and that she was fury proud of us! I just love going away and sleeping in doggy trailers and boxes, Summer and Kodiak don't like that much but I like it lots!

When we went to leave my old family on Monday afternoon my nephew BJ (short for Blackjack) got put in the doggy trailer with me, Summer and Kodiak. I was a bit confused about that as he came all the way to Palmerston with us on Monday and on Tuesday he came the rest of the way home too ~ he even came straight back to my house! Then I started to think that maybe BJ might be coming to stay with us fur a bit!!!

Later on on Tuesday night BJ went home with our furiend Haakon. He came back fur a visit Wednesday night and went fur a walk with Mom and Summer, I went fur a walk with Nanny Kate and Koda. Kodiak was around with Haakon and when he came home he was not impressed to see BJ at home again! BJ is staying with Haakon, Fen, Laska, Qui, Aleka, Suggen and Qannik fur a few weeks until Kodiak's foot is better and then Mom said he's coming to live with us.....if Kodiak is okay with that of course. Mom says he is a 'little green eyed monster'. She said I might go out and stay with Haakon fur a bit and that if it doesn't work out with Kodiak and BJ, BJ will live with Haakon and I will come back home to Mom, Summer and Kodiak. Mom said I can help her teach BJ how to run in harness, I'm really excited about that!!!

I think it all sounds purtty good ~ either way I get to spend time with BJ and efuryone else!!! Welcome to my new family BJ, I'm so happy woo are gonna be here with me!!!

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY SESUK!!!

Sillik, Sesuk, Anui and Mauya

Two years ago today a very nervous little girl came to live with us (okay so she wasn't as little as in the photo above!), she was not used to being inside and I'm sure she missed her old family, human and canine. She certainly was outside her comfort zone when she first arrived.

Over the last two years she has become much more relaxed and trusting towards people, she's always been a social butterfly as far as dogs are concerned........even though she gets so excited and sometimes snaps at them because of this! Suki is now eight and a half years old ~ but acts and runs like a two year old!

As it happens, we have spent the last three nights with Suki's old family. Suki has had a wonderful weekend catching up with them ~ she got to spend time with her old owners, two brothers, half brother, two half sisters, neice and nephew and an old canine friend. She has also spent time doing what she loves best - racing! I know it will be sad for her to leave today but I have a surprise for Suki that I know she will be very excited about! We will share this news with you very soon ~ watch this space!!!

VET VISIT AND XRAYS!!!

Dis mornin I went to da vet with Maw. Dr Ruth and Lana did lift me up onto da big high table and den lay me down on my side. Dr Ruth took my bandage and splint off and it felt ohhhhh sooooo furyyyyyyy gooddddddd!!! She gave my footy foots a bit of a clean up and rubbed it......I was in doggy heaven! Maw didn't even need to bribe my wif treats dis time!!! Den she wrapped it back up again and put da splint back on.

Dr Ruth really liked my special bootie dat haakon made just fur me! She said I wuz a fury lucky boy!!! Da boot does keep my foot nice and dry and it has rubber on da bottom so I don't slip ofur.....it's purtty comfy too! Dis is my boot.....

REMEMBERING OUR PRINCE.....

Hi efurypuppy, it's me Summer!

Yesterday me and Mom had a fury important job to do ~ we went fur a walk, just the two of us, and we scattered some of Princey's ashes on one of his favourite trails.

At the beginning of our walk we noticed this little fella following us along the side of the trail, he followed us almost all of the way to our destination.....

We started walking up the little hill, to Prince's special place.....

When we got to the top we were greeted by this glorious sunshine.....

We found a perfect spot to scatter Prince's ashes and just as we were doing it, the rain started. Can woo see where we are heading with this? We then walked down the other side of the hill and stopped at the bottom to take a photo, this is what we saw.....

Can woo see it? It's a bit faint in that photo, here it is closer up.....

Mom's eyes got all leaky again and there were lots of smiles from both of us ~ we think our Princey was wanting to let us know he's still with us, looking down from above. It sure was a beewootiful sight and one we will never forget! For a couple of minutes it was like the three of us were together again! As quick as the rainbow showed itself to us, it faded and disappeared.

This is a photo Mom took of me after we saw the rainbow fur the fury first time, I was saying 'hey Mom, that's Princey up there!'.....

Oh Princey we miss woo so ~ it was so nice of woo to let us know woo really are way up there, watching ofur us.....we thought woo were but now we know fur sure!

Pee Ess ~ the special place we chose is on a hill we refer to as 'Moving Target' (all of our trails have names). This was one of Prince's favourite places to water the foliage on the hill, only on the way up of course (which was where we came down in the photos). Once he got to the top he would run as fast as he could down the other side and into the forest:)

If woo are wondering his my footy foots is, here's some photos of da last time I went to da vet. Dey did take my splint off and take da stitches out, den dey wrapped it all up again!

OUR FURY OWN ICE SCULPTURE!!!

Hi efurydoggy, it's me Sesuk!

We've had some frosty mornings here in NZ and the other day when we went outside we found our shell pool all frozen over. Mom took the thick sheet of ice out and like magic we had our fury own ice sculpture!

I give woo Ice Sculpture La Team Husky.....

Mom then tried to put it back in the pool.......it wasn't fury successful as woo can see here.....

The next day when Mom went out into our back yard to do her daily poo pick up (well our daily poo pick up really), she found half the ice from the pool out of the pool ~ our guess is Master Kodiak had some fun during the night while us girls were catching up on our beewooty sleep.

Kodiak will be back soon to tell woo about the fun we had at the weekend in the frosty forest!

Hi efurypuppy, it's me Summer!

Last weekend we had special visitors stay with us for a few nights. They were really nice to us doggies and gave us lots of pats and cuddles. I didn't get a photo of them with me (Mom furgot) but here is photos of them with Suki, meet Jewel and Wayne.....

Jewel is an artist and she does pet portraits. She gave Mom a fury special present that I'd like to share with all of woo. I give woo 'Princey Portrait'.....

The photos don't show just how much detail is in the portrait, it really does look just like my best boy hanging on our wall, when we look at him it makes us remember all the good times and fun we had together. Dey also gave us these beewootiful red roses, Mom's favourites.

I have to go now and dream about me and my Princey doing zoomies and playing bitey face.

HAWOO EFURYPUPPY, IT'S ME LIL SPEED DEMON!!!

FIRST DA FURY GOOD NEWS.....Take a look at dese photos.....

Do woo know what dey were of?

If woo guessed me and my brudder Qannik in our first proper race woo were right! We had so much fun ~ and we gots second!!!!! Dere were 12 teams in our race and we was only 40 seconds behind two real big leggy FAST English Pointers.....not bad fur a couple of young boys don't woo think?

Maw said dat Paw would be real proud of us!

We was goin so fast dey came out all blurry.

NOW FUR THE FURY BAD NEWS.....two days after our big race I was out visitin and playin wif my family and furiends and dis happened.....one of dese things is not like da udder.....

Yep, I gots me a boo boo ~ I did break my toe (da VET called it a bad fracture)!!! I have to wear dis splint thingee for 4-6 weeks Maw says. I broke my toe on Monday and Maw did take me to see Dr Ruth on Tuesday mornin. Den she had to take me to da out of town vet on Tuesday afternoon.....I did haf to stay dere dat night den I had my operation on Wednesday afternoon. Dey put a screw in my toe to hold it together! I had to spend anudder night in da doggy hospital and den Maw came up to gets me last night.

I was fury happy to see her and to gets back to my home and my two Aunt's. Maw said Dr Ruth is gonna get pictures of my xrays before and after da surgery so woo can see my toe and da screw dats in it!

Today I did lots of dis.....

Den I went outside fur a bit.....Maw does haf to put dis funny thing on my foot when I go outside

so it doesn't get wet.....

Den it was onto da udder bed fur some of dis.....

Here's a close up of my two middle toes ~ dey did haf to shave dem so dey look kinda funny.....

Dis afternoon I did lots of dis.....

Den I gots a special visitor and he did bring me da BIGGEST bone I did ever see,

he said it was from my Mudder and my Brudder.....

Hi efurypuppy, it's me Summer!

I soooo miss my Princey things just aren't the same here without him. I feel very sad and lonely sometimes and wasn't feeling too well last week, I had my Mom worried cause I was vomiting and not wanting to eat my dinner or treats. Anyone that knows me knows this is not normal behaviour, Mom calls me her Sibrador because I am like a Labrador sometimes and am obsessed with food too. I feel better now and am eating again, I've had lots of extra cuddles from Mom and have even snuggled with the annoying Lil Demon. He's not too bad really, he kinda reminds me of my Princey.

Maw took this photo on Wednesday night ~ she said it was almost like seeing her 'two peas in a pod' again (that's me and Princey for those of woo that don't know).

I think this might be the start of a sumthing special, what do woo think efurypuppy?

I have sum fury exciting news ~ I asked a fury special girlie to be my girlfuriend a couple of weeks back and she said yes! Can woo guess who it might be? Here's some clues to help woo ~ she's cute, very sweet, playful and cheeky (just like me!), extra purtty and HOT HOT HOT!!! She sure does make my heart race and I just know we is gonna be fury happy together!

PRINCE IS HOME

Last Thursday I got Prince's ashes back, it was the weirdest feeling when I picked up the casket for the first time ~ I really don't know how to describe it. I think it was the final stage of accepting he really is gone from this world. It was hard and a real struggle for the first day or two. Once I got over seeing my 28kg boy in this little rimu box, I found it very comforting knowing he was back home with us.

In the photo above you will see a beautiful crystal with a photo of Prince and Summer lasered into it on top of the casket. This was given to me by a very good friend a few years ago, it is something I have always loved but now treasure.

These are some of the cards we received and a lovely bouquet of flowers I was given last week by a friend that lives out of town.

All of the comments we have received on our blog and the emails that have come in since Prince's passing have been very overwhelming. I want to thank each and every one of you for your kind words and support, please take this as a personal thank you.

I have learnt such a lot over the past few weeks and months. I was going to list the things I have learnt but there are way too many. The main thing I have learnt is what it is like to have your very best friend slowly taken away from you, how we fight with everything we can to save them but sometimes have to face reality and realise there is nothing that we can do to make them well again. I had to do what I knew in my heart was best for Prince, it was the hardest decision I have ever had to make but it was the right one. Keeping him here with me for any longer would have been selfish.

Here at Team Husky our lives will never be the same but we are, day by day, moving on ~ we have to. It is hard but we make baby steps every day, we have so many happy memories that help us get through and make us stronger.

Please give your fur-babies big hugs and kisses from us and cherish every moment you have with them.

On Friday 30 April my beautiful boy left this world and joined all the other fur angels north of the Rainbow Bridge.

Prince had been very brave over the past six months ~ not only did he have to battle cancer but he had to learn to adjust to almost completely losing his eyesight. My once very energetic best friend had to accept a life with many limitations and I know not being able to do zoomies with his sister/best friend Summer was very hard for both of them to accept.

We did everything we could to fight the cancer, he handled the metronomic chemotherapy very well and we had almost six wonderful months together after he was first diagnosed with Fibrosarcoma in November 2009. We will never know if the treatment slowed down the growth of the tumor and gave us more precious time together.

For those of you that don't know, Prince's tumor was located beside his spine. He had a CT scan last December and we were hoping it would be able to be surgically removed but that wasn't the case. The tumor had invaded and eroded some of his vertibrae and his spinal cord and nerves were compromised. The surgical specialists and radiologist could not believe that Prince was walking normally with the pressure that was already on his spinal cord.

I always knew my boy was tough, he was always so stoic and took everything in his stride. I truly believe his stubbornness and determination helped him fight off the effects of the tumor for so many months.

On Wednesday 15 April Prince and I headed to our vet clinic for routine blood tests. He loved going to our vet (which was just as well as we were there so often!) ~ always got so excited when we pulled up outside and he would normally announce his arrival before and after we entered the front doors with enthusiastic woof woofs. He had his tests and we went home. The next day our vet phoned and the results were not so good ~ his white blood count and platelets were very low and after consultation with the specialists, it was decided to withhold the cyclophosphamide for a week or so and re test him, the plan was to then start him on his chemo on a dose of every third day.

Saturday 17 April I noticed a change in Prince's back legs - they were a bit uncoordinated and seemed to be weaker than before. 5-6 days later they seemed to be even weaker and a couple of days after that they were collapsing on him at times. I knew in my heart that the time I had dreaded for the last 5+ months was here ~ my boy was losing his battle with this horrible disease. We had a few more vet appointments for blood tests and his WBC only increased ever so slightly. His bone marrow was no longer producing white blood cells and platelets. This meant his immune system was highly compromised so he couldn't be exposed to other dogs or places where he could pick up any bugs. He had to remain at home and had to be kept as calm as possible.

Prince's vet 'Dr Ruth' had gone on a three week holiday so we had been seeing 'Dr Jeff' the last few times we were at the clinic. Dr Ruth was wonderful with Prince and I didn't realise how much I had come to rely on her until she wasn't there. I decided to wait until she returned to make a decision about Prince. She was due to return to work on Monday 3 May. I wanted her to see Prince and confirm what I already knew deep down. The waiting was driving me insane and was very stressful, I then had a phone call to say Dr Ruth was returning early and that she would be available to see me anytime from Thursday afternoon onwards. I almost panicked ~ that seemed way too soon!

On Friday 30 April Prince, myself and my Mom went into the clinic to meet with Dr Ruth. She confirmed my worst fears. She said that because his back end had gone from basically normal (a little bit weak when he was tired) to collapsing, sometimes he even walked on his paws with them curled under in a time frame of a week and a half, she wouldn't be surprised if he was paralised within a week. She felt I really didn't have much time left with Prince. I decided that it was time to end Prince's battle. In the last week I could see he was beginning to struggle and when we began this journey I promised him and myself that I would not let him struggle or suffer. At 5pm Dr Ruth and Tracey came to our home. Approximately half an hour later Prince passed peacefully in my arms.

It was the hardest decision I have ever had to make but I knew it was the right one. I miss Prince so much, he will always be my main man and I will never ever forget all the wonderful times we had together. Prince was the very best companion I could have ever imagined and I am fortunate enough to have his son Kodiak, to carry on his fathers legacy. If he turns out to be half the dog Prince was I will be very blessed.

WHAT ARE WOO SCARED OF???

Hawoo efurypupp, it's me Kodiyakyakyak!

I can hear woo going 'awwwwww' ~ okay so I've got a bit bigger since dat photo was taken and my ears are now how dey should be and I've grown some freckles, underneath I'm still da same cute widdle puppy:)

My buddy Mr Koda had a pretty cool blog post yesterday and at da end of it he asked 'What are you scared of?'. I thought we should let woo all know what we at Team Husky are scared of.

I'll do this in age order, with the oldest of us first.

Sesuk is scared of:

The toilet flushin and aerosol spray cans......I just think she's afraid of Maw using da toilet! Seriously though, if Maw goes to da toilet and Suki is napping on the big bed, as soon as she hears the toilet roll movin she's off da bed and out da doggy door! It's something she's always done and Maw hasn't been able to break da habit. Suki will stand and watch Maw spraying her deodorant but freaks out when she sprays air freshener so there doesn't seem to be a set pattern. She's a bit loopy my Aunt Suki, dats why Maw calls her tutti ~ short for tutti fruity and fruit loop.

Summer is scared of:

Big trucks and loud cars and things goin along da street when she's out fur a walk and anythin being thrown above her head. If Maw throws a ball or toy when she's playin wif me or Paw and Summer thinks it's coming towards her she ducks her head and is scared of it. She's also afraid of somethin bad happenin to her Princey.

Prince (Paw) is scared of:

Flies! Yep, my big tough Paw is afraid of itty bitty little flies! He hates it when they come anywhere near him or even when they're in da room. Maw thinks it's because Paw can't see dem and can only hear dem buzzin around. He gets really paranoid about them and usually ends up vacatin da room. He worries about what's gonna happen to all of us if he's not here wif us anymore too.

Kodiak (Me!) is scared of:

NOTHING! I'm too sophisticated and cool to be scared of anything! Okay, so maybe there might be somethin I'm afraid of but I'm not sure if I should tell woo cause woo might give away my secret. Promise not to tell anyone cause it's pretty embarrassin?!? I'm afraid of my Paw, I'm scared he's gonna tell me off and I feel fury threatened by him. Sometimes I'm nice to him and udder times I'm not so nice and tell him off. Paw doesn't tell me off anymore like he did when I was little but he might change his mind so I have to keep my eye on him and always be on da lookout. Maw says dis is why I am stayin wif my brudder Qannik and mudder Laska, she says I can't be trusted wif my Paw because I'm mean to him sometimes and she can't risk him gettin hurt again. I luv my Paw, I really do.

Maw (okay, so she's not the youngest member of Team Husky but I'm tryin to suck up to her!) is scared of:

Bad things happenin to us. She's scared dat Paw will get sicker and dat one day we might get sick too. She's also scared dat if somethin happens to her she might not be able to look after us properly anymore. I told her she didn't need to worry about dat cause I would look after her and my Aunts and Paw!!!

Now that I've told woo what we're all scared of (and we're all a bit embarrased, specially me!) it's yur turn ~ WHAT ARE WOO SCARED OF??? Come on, tell all yur bloggin buddies!!!

KODA'S BIRFDAY WALK!

Hi efurypuppy, it's me Summer!

Woo are right ~ that it not a photo of me! Do woo know who this distinguished looking gentledoggy is? Yep, it's Mr Koda MD! Do woo know where he sitting in this photo? Yep, at our house on our couch ~ hmmmpppphhhh, we're not allowed on our couch ~ how come he's was sitting on it? Oh I remember.....it was his birfday and he sure was looking pleased with himself!

Koda's Mom had to work late on Koda's birfday so our Mom and cousin Madison went round to his house and dognapped him from his backyard (with Nanny Kate's permission of course). The first we knew of this was when Mom and Mad left us home alone and then turned up a few minutes later with our surprise ~ Mr Koda!

I told Mom I wasn't really messing up the bed.....

Koda said 'wasn't me either' with his most pathetic face and big brown eyes.....

After we played fur a bit, Mom told Princey and Suki to go to our outside doggy house and I knew right away what was happening ~ I was going somewhere with Koda! This is where we went.....

Yep, out fur walkies! Along the way we did some of this.....

He wasn't fury happy to see me and was not at all furiendly .....

Next thing I knew it was time for me and Koda to head home. Koda went straight to Prince's pool to cool off and have a drink.....

We had our photo taken with Mad.....

Then we headed inside and Koda spent some time with Prince and Suki.....

Until Nanny Kate arrived ~ we were all fur happy to see her, especially Koda.....

We hope woo enjoyed coming to our house fur a birthday surprise Koda! I sure did have fun going fur walkies with woo!!!

Hi efurydoggy, it's me Suki!

Last month our Sled Dog club held an Open Day. We got to show off our running and smooching with people skills. Lots of people came especially to see us (our furiend Lyne even flew over from Alaska that day, wow.....what a long way to come just to see us)! We got to see some puppies and doggies that we hadn't seen before too!

Woo have probably bin wonderin what I've been up to lately ~ rest assured I am just fine. In fact I have been havin a rather fun time here at da Holiday Inn wif my furiends and family.

My Handsome Prince

Five years ago today I brought home a five month old siberian husky puppy that hadn't quite grown into his ears ~ his name was Prince. This photo was taken a couple of days beforehand, the day I first met Prince.....

At that time, I could never have imagined becoming so attached and having such a strong bond with a dog ~ my soul mate ~ but that is exactly what happened. My life has been enriched so much since Prince's arrival and I am truly glad I travelled that weekend, back in April 2005, to meet the pup that was to be forever mine.

Many things have happened in our lives together over the past five years. The one thing that has remained constant is that we have always been there for each other, in good times and in bad ~ our bond has only grown stronger.

Each and every day I am grateful to have Prince in my life. He is such an important part of my family and there will never be another fur-baby like Prince, he truly is one of a kind.

Happy Gotcha Day my main man ~ thank you for being you!

We went out to see how Kodiak was doing with his other family and furiends.....

Onyx doesn't have a lot of fur so this is what they do to him sometimes ~ my dogness, how embarrassing.....

This is Mitsi and Onyx's newish brother Kavik and yes, he is standing on the arms of two couches.....

Now this next photo is Mitsi, Onyx and Kavik's Dad Paul ~ he tells us it's his snowsuit, we're not quite so sure.......looks more like a spacesuit to us.....

These last two photos weren't taken when we were visiting ~ they are of Princey playing with his Hippo in his paddling pool, he loves dropping his squeaky toys in water and giving them a bath.....

Haroo efurypupper, it's me Prince!

I have such eggciting (seeing as it's nearly easter) news to share with woo ~ I have a new occupation! I am now an Associate Medigcal Dogtor (AMD)! I have officially been appointed to assist my good furiend Koda MD!

I can't wait to help lots of woo puppers out there, it's early days yet but I have lots of eggperience (again, sticking with the easter theme!) and am a fury quick learner, I think me and Koda will compliment each other fury nicely in our new practice!

Haroo efurypupper, it's me Prince!

What's been happening in my world? Not much really, I've been pretty tired so have just been chillin out most of the time and going fur a few walks.

Here's an update on my eye ~ first just before my VET Dr Ruth took my stitches out (she's real nice by the way, I like her a lot ~ maybe I could see if I could take a few photos next time I'm visiting her so I can introduce woo to her).....

This is after, when my Mom shared some yummy custard with me.....

I have been doing a lot of this lately, with the Lil Demon having a holiday with his Mom and brother Qannik all of my old toys have appeared in my toy box again.....

Mom even bought me a couple of new ones.....

Meet my new hamburger and hippo, I love both of them but really love my hippo.....

My favourite son Qannik (aka Snowflake) came to visit one afternoon, he parked up on my spot on the bed, what can I say ~ he clearly has good taste.....

How do woo know when Suki's at home? Just have a look at the state of our water bowl, yep she's back home alright.....

Summer has been making sure there's no critters lurking around in our trees.....

Yakky has been joining us on walks, this one was last week at the park.....

Qannik, Qui, Kodiak and Suki cooled off in the water fountain.....

Koda gave Summer a rose (I sure hope Cosi doesn't get jealous!).....

Kodiak talked fun Aunt Qui into going 'bush' with him.....

Literally.....

That's about it from me, time for another nap. Oh I've been eating lots too, Mom says she's putting me on a diet ~ that doesn't sound good for me, does it?

Today is a fury special day.....it's our bestest buddy Koda's birfday (barkday if yur Koda)

He told his version of the story and it's pretty accurate. About all it didn't say was that I'm now too scared to walk Suki around town, in case she slips out of her harness yet again!

MMMMMM, BONES.....

Hi efurypuppy, it's me Summer!

We gots to eat some yummy bones the other day, here's me and Princey in action with them.....

Last time Princey had bones he was fury sick afterwards, he vomited a few times and efurything. Mom wasn't sure if it had something to do with the bones or not so she decided to try them again and if he was sick again he wouldn't get any more....ever! I was fury happy fur Princey - he wasn't sick so he's aloud to have more bones!

Here's photos of Princey's eye boo boo, the first one was taken on 6 March and the second one 8 March.

He now has his stitches out and it has healed really well. I'll have to get Mom to take some new photo so woo can see.

Please send lots and lots of Sibe Vibes fur Zoe ~ she has been having a few problems lately which has been causing her a lot of pain.

Zoe is having an MRI scan on Tuesday evening to try and see if the doctors can fix her and make her all better.

We are thinking of woo lots Zoe and hope woo feel better real soon!
