PRINCEY'S PUPDATE.....

Well I had a fun week last week with my Mom, it was just me and her and some other fury nice people and puppers! We stayed with Suki's old family too so that was fun, her old Mom Lyn and old Dad Ken sure were nice to me!!! Mom said she wants to say a few words to all of woo so I better let her.....I'll be back to show woo some photos after Mom has finished!

Hi everyone, well it was a strange week last week ~ it was nice spending so much time with my main man (that's Princey!) but it was a very tiring and emotional week too.

We left home at 5am on Tuesday morning and headed to Christchurch. The trip up was pretty uneventful, just one stop for a coffee and lunch for me and drink and piddles for Prince. We arrived in ChCh almost an hour early (darn, could have slept a bit longer!) so went to a little reserve where I ate my lunch and Prince explored and did all the things doggies do in a new place.

At 1pm we had our consult with the Internal Medicine Specialist at Vet Specs (Surgical Specialists). She was very good with Prince and explained what was going to happen. Just before 2pm I left Prince in her capable hands, they were going to run a few tests, put a catheter in his leg and prepare him and transport him to the private hospital he was to have the CT Scan.

They told me it would be at least 6pm before he would be back at their clinic, so I had a few painfully long hours to fill in. I hate waiting! I went to Animates and bought some doggy treats and had a good look around, went to a small mall and had some sushi and an ice cream sundae (wasn't even hungry, just filled in some time and made me feel sick afterwards!). I then went for a drive to the Botanical Gardens and had a wander around and waited, waited, waited for 6pm to roll around.

I headed back to the clinic at 6 and at 6:15 was reunited with my boy. I was so happy to see him ~ they said he had been very good and that everything had gone to plan with the CT Scan. I drove my groggy boy back to friends place we were staying and we relaxed (well as much as we could) for the rest of the evening and caught up with our friends.

I got a phone call the next afternoon to say the images and report from Radiologist were back ~ the news wasn't good. They couldn't excise the whole tumor and the prognosis was a lot worse than I had hoped. Here's part of the Radiologists report:

The tumor extends down to the posterior chest wall and has expanded, eroded and invaded through the right T11/12 foramen, causing a significant central canal stenosis of at least 50%. Cord is effaced at this level. Tumor has also extended through to a subpleural position here and also extended medially and posteriorly, destroying posterior elements of T10 and T11.

The main concern is for Prince's spinal cord. If the tumor continues to grow and put more pressure on the spinal cord he will start to lose movement in his back end and will eventually become paralised. For Fibrosarcoma tumors, radiotherapy is the most effective treatment if tumor cannot be excised. At present there is nowhere in NZ that performs radiotherapy on animals. Our only other option is chemotherapy which is not as effective.

I have decided Prince will have low dose chemo (called Metronomic Chemotherapy). This is a relatively new form of treatment and doesn't have the same side effects of full chemo (I hope!). Prince's tumor is low grade which means it's slow growing and chemo attacks and kills all fast growing cells. The full chemo treatment would have been every three weeks for 4-6 treatments and the Specialists felt the low dose chemo would be more suitable as hopefully it will kill off a few cells each day. I can administer this from home each day in the form of a capsule, Prince will also be on Piroxicam (an anti-inflammatory which seems to compliment the Cyclophosphamide).

Prince is at the vet right now for tests ~ CBC and Chemistry (bloods), Urinalysis (urine) and a Neurological exam. He will have these tests done again after being on the treatment for one week and after that they will be weekly for a while, if all goes well the tests will then be run each fortnight and then monthly. Prince will be on the Chemo for the rest of his life or until I decide he shouldn't be on it.

It was a very hard decision to make as I didn't want to put him through chemo but the alternative was to let the tumor take it's course and watch Prince become paralised. I felt he was too young (only just turned five) and that I had to try some form of treatment to give him a chance.

The third day we were in Christchurch Lyn and Mom went into a place called Rangiora for lunch and a look around. I got to meet some of Lyn's doggies and I stayed in one of their houses with them....in separate cages just incase. I was right next door to two lovely girlies so that wasn't so bad.

Hawoo puppies and kitties, it's me Yak Yak!

We have some fury evil neighbours ~ dey are so evil I am too scared to look at dem! Maybe one day when I'm a big boy I will be brave like my Paw and two Aunt's.....here dey are looking at our evil neighbours.....

Usually its my two Aunt's that are da most fascinated by da neighbours but dis particular day Paw was fury interested.....

Here's what dey were looking at ~ I would recommend all woo youngsters to ask yur Maw or Paw to be wif woo before woo read any further cause it's pretty scary. I give woo evil neighbour.....

I GOT THE BLAME!!!

Hi efurypuppy, it's me Summer!

I was not impressed a couple of weeks ago when I got the blame fur something I did not do!!!

You see Mom had made some yummy doggy treats ~ dehydrated liver and hearts....mmmmm, some of our favorites! She had the dehydrator trays soaking in the laundry tub. One day at lunchtime, she was in the kitchen and heard a noise and walked through to the hallway ~ this is what she saw.....

Yep, that's one of the dehydrator trays on the carpet in the hall! I told Mom what happened (as woo can see in the photo) and she accused me of stealing the tray from the laundry tub!!! I was fury offended! She put the tray back in the tub.....

When she came home from work at the end of the day and started to get her tea ready she heard another noise through the front of the house. I give woo the real dehydrator tray thief!!!

Yes that's right ~ it was Princey and I caught him wet pawed with Mom's camera!!!

When I showed Mom my evidence she apologised to me (as she should have and I really think some treats were in order too) and said she was fury surprised that it was Prince as he doesn't normally get into mischief! Hmmmppphhh ~ and sweet little ole innocent me does??? So not fair!

I hope woo haven't been getting the blame fur other doggies or kitties naughty actions! If woo have I think woo should tell us all about it!

Congratulations to our Aunt Jo and Uncle Karl on the arrival of their BEEWOOTIFUL baby boy, Jaden! We haven't been allowed to meet him yet but we've been told he's pretty darn cute and we can't wait to teach him lots of naughty things......we think he might be able to teach us some naughty things too!!!

BIG WEEK AHEAD OF US.....

Hawoo efurypupper, it's me Prince!

Sorry we haven't pupdated woo fur a while but things have been rather busy and there's a lot going on with me. Fur those of woo who don't know yet, my biopsy results came back and they were not so great. I have Fibrosarcoma (cancer). We're sorry if we didn't let woo know but we've all been feeling a bit down and didn't feel much like broadcasting our bad news. Mom and me are off on a road trip to a place called Christchurch, we'll be leaving early hours of tomorrow morning. She'll tell woo the rest.

Hi everyone, Aleeya here. Prince has an appointment at a place called Vet Specs ~ first we'll see their Internal Medicine Specialists and then they'll take Prince to the hospital (human hospital of course!) to get a CT Scan. Hopefully the results of that will be back the next morning and then we'll go back into Vet Specs and see one of their Specialist Surgeons. They'll be able to tell us if they think they can remove Prince's tumor. The lab said that if it can be completely excised there's a good chance of cure so we've all got our fingers, toes and paws crossed for a miracle. The last week and a half (since we got the biopsy results back) have been very emotional and tiring. I'll let Prince finished this post off and tell you a little more about our upcoming road trip.

Hawoo again. I am looking forward to an adventure with my Mom ~ just the two of us:) Sum, Suki and Yak are staying at our good furiend Haakon's house so I'm sure they'll have lots of fun with my Laska and son Qannik and all their family. Me and Mom are going to be staying with Suki's old family ~ how cool is that! I might even get to meet some of her brothers, sisters, neices and nephews! Mom says they have baby cows and chickens there too so it sounds pretty exciting to me!

The photos on this post were taken this morning ~ when Mum got out of the shower she asked me what I was doing on the couch (we're not allowed on the couch woo see). I said 'what couch Mom, I'm on my doggy bed'. She said 'Prince.....get off the couch' as she walked closer to me. Again, I said 'Mom, I'm not on the couch, this is my doggy bed'. In the end I gave up and moved. Seeing as I can't see fury well now I thought I might have been able to confuse Mom and make her think the big blue doggy bed on the other side of the room was the blue couch but no, she knew it was the couch.....a boy can't get away with anything these days!

We'll try and pupdate woo on Wednesday after we get the results from the scan I'm having at the biped hospital, hopefully Suki's old Mom will share her computer with us efury now and then.

Please send lots of Sibe Vibes fur me.....we all know how powerful they are and I sure could use them right now!

LIL DEMONS WORLD.....

Hawoo puppies and kitties, it's me ~ Lil Demon!!!

I wuz thinkin woo might want an update on what's been happenin in my world ~ am I right or am I right??? Seriously, dese are your only two options!

Fur those of woo that have been asking Maw how Paw is doing, thank woo fur yur concern. We still haven't had da biopsy results and Maw is getting rather grumpy bout dat! She did ring da VET today and he said dat if he hadn't had anythin from the LAB by tomorrow lunchtime he'd ring dem to find out what's goin on. Paw wasn't feeling fury well over da weekend and Maw was worried he might haf sum infection around his lump thingee as it's a bit soft and squishy to touch now ~ Maw says dere's probably fluid under dere. She talked to da VET and asked fur some andibiodics and Paw was much happier within a few hours of havin his first dose. We will keep woo pupdated bout da results as soon as we find out.

Some of woo might not recognise me now cause look what Maw did do to me da udder day.....

When dey came home to our place I found sumthin fascinatin on da table ~ I found a new furiend!!! Dis was me checkin him out and den tellin him da house rules.....





Maw told us dat there wasn't gonna be any more dogs livin at our place so I wuz kinda relieved when Jo did take him home, after all dey wouldn't let me play wif him anyways ~ no point a puppy bein here if I can't plays wif him!
